Firefox Flash lock during load...

Posted Nov. 13, 2009 in AS3, Flash, Firefox at 2 p.m.

I'm curious if a lot of people are experiencing this -- whenever I complete an HTTP request for a SWF file, Firefox hangs for about a second. All animation stops, I can't click anything, it's a total (albeit brief) freeze.

It seems to happen even during internal loads; when a parent SWF loads a child SWF it hangs the entire browser too -- and none of this happens when I'm using Internet Explorer. It really pains me, since I'm such a fan of Firefox, but IE is working so much better in this case.

Frustrating. Anyone have a good idea on how to fix it?

Can you Post a simple example that people can view and see if it's doing the same?

Could be a add-on make sure to run firefox with add-on's disabled to be sure.

Sounds like an IO issue to me :S Lot of assets ?

Nope -- no assets at all. I can actually reproduce it with a totally empty SWF loading another totally empty SWF. :(
